House fire was 'deliberate'

PEOPLE had to be evacuated from their homes following an arson attack at a neighbouring property.

Crews from Parkway, Rotherham and Elm Lane fire stations were called to tackle the fire on Norborough Road, Tinsley, at 12.15am on Sunday. 

A fire service spokesman said crews used to turntable ladder to fight the blaze from above.

No-one was injured in the incident but the spokesman said some properties had to be evacuated as a precaution.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.”
