Hero police honoured for Rotherham rescue

TWO policemen who saved a man from dying in a frozen canal in Rotherham are set to pick up a prestigious award for their efforts.

Pcs Neil Palmer (41) and Jason Harrison (38) risked their own safety to pull the 38-year-old out of fchest-deep, freezing water and six feet up a concrete banking at Jordan's Lock, near Meadowbank Road.

Then they carried him half a mile to a waiting ambulance.

They will be presented with Royal Humane Society awards at a special ceremony in Sheffield tomorrow.
