Help us to grow, Rotherham business tells Government
Chambers of Commerce are calling on the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, to deliver a Budget on March 23 which supports the growth of the private sector during 2011 and beyond.

Hide AdCommenting on the upcoming Budget, Andrew Denniff, executive director of Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, said: “The Government continues to talk about growth, but this has not yet been matched with real action to deliver a strong environment for the private sector to flourish.
“Local businesses are not seeking handouts, but need the Government to create a climate in which they can grow.
“That means less, not more, employment legislation, a greater focus on boosting exports and keeping pressure on the banks to ensure that businesses can get access to finance.”

Hide AdMr Denniff added: “After nine months of cuts and restructuring, it is time for the Government to take some pro-growth steps.
“A ‘Budget for Growth’ will be judged by whether it boosts business confidence, encourages investment and rekindles the spirit of enterprise.”
Mr Denniff said that if the Government provided a radical framework, business would do what it did best, creating wealth and jobs, innovating to deliver strong companies and providing the much-needed sustainable growth for this region.
