Help Janine make the crunch in crisp contest

A CRISP fanatic needs your help in proving she’s worth her salt as a national hunt for a taste tester comes down to the crunch.

Janine Allen is urging people to go online and vote for her to become a snack sampler for crisp-makers Seabrook.

The 47-year-old, from Woodlaithes, is one of three people to be shortlisted in a nationwide competition to win the ultimate job as Seabrook Crisps’ first ever official flavour taster.

The British crisp-maker launched a search last month to find its Seabrook Champion, who will test out the brand’s future flavours for a whole year.

They were inundated with fun films from fans describing why they should be the honorary champion and Janine now just has days left to get as many Facebook likes as possible to be crowned the winner, with the voting deadline coming up next Monday.

Seabrook crisps are gluten free, so are the perfect snack for coeliac Janine who was diagnosed with the condition 16 years ago.

“I go through about two or three packs of them a day,” said the mother-of-two.

“When I go abroad, the first thing I put in my case is a multi-pack and I have a drawer full of them at work, everybody laughs at me.”

The typist said she saw the competition to become a tester on the Seabrook Facebook page and asked her colleague to film her while she munched away.

Now her video is up against two other films and Seabrook Facebook followers are invited to like their favourite film in order to crown the overall champion.

The three finalists will receive a year’s supply of their favourite Seabrook Crisps crinkle cut flavour.

The winner will also exclusively sample new flavours for the brand and receive a VIP tour of the Seabrook factory in Bradford.

Beef and plain flavour lover Janine said: “The video only took 30 seconds to film, I didn’t actually think I would get through it was just a laugh.

“I’m up against some tough competition as the other videos are very creative and one of them is a teacher so I bet he can get all his pupils to vote for him.

“I would be over the moon if I won, it would be the dream job to test the new flavours and as a coeliac I am really interested in visiting the factory to find out more.”
