Have your say on £37m theme park plan

THE team behind a planned £37 million theme park wants to hear ideas from the public about what should be included.

Gulliver’s Valley is proposed for the 333-acre former Pit House West site, next to Rother Valley Country Park.

A series of six consultation events  will gauge public opinion and provide more information about the project.

Managing director Julie Dalton whose dad started Gulliver’s 40 years ago, will be part of the team hearing views and answering questions.

She said: “We’re excited about our own ideas, which we’ll be able to outline. But what we really want to do at this stage is get a feel for what people would like to see and how we can incorporate their needs into the project.”

The resort — bringing 255 jobs — is planned to include a theme park hub, guest accommodation and community facilities, plus nature trails, walks, outdoor gyms and woodland runs.

It will be built in five phases over 12 years, combining elements at its Matlock Bath, Warrington and Milton Keynes attractions.

The remaining consultation events are:

Wednesday, October 14, 8.30am to 1pm, Howard Street, Rotherham (outside Boots).

Wednesday, October 14, 1.30pm to 6pm, Kiveton Park and Wales Village Hall.

Julie said: “We’re really hoping as many people as possible will come along, meet the team and get a feel for what we’re hoping to achieve.

“We won’t be able to answer every question in detail at this stage, but we’ll do our best to address any concerns, and most of all we want to hear what you have to say.”

She added: “Gulliver’s is very much a family company, run by a family to provide fun and value days out for other families.

“Our Rother Valley development will be our most ambitious project so far, bringing together on one site all the best elements of our existing three theme parks.”
