Hat-trick of prizes for Rotherham girl air cadets

A GROUP of air cadets are flying high after landing three top prizes in a national awards scheme.

Rotherham Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets picked up the prizes for Best All-Round Unit, Most Aviation Awards and Service to the Community at the

Girls Venture Corps’ UK annual general meeting, beating 20 Units from around the country.

The awards bring a glittering end to a successful year for the group, who have taken part in activities ranging from flying and camping to archery and abseiling.

Also high on the agenda as part of a programme of action and adventure were aviation studies and service to the community.

Unit commanding officer Nicola Jones said: “I am always proud of what the girls achieve. We always aim high at Rotherham Unit and these awards just go to prove we are number one."

The unit meets at the TA Centre on Fitzwilliam Road, Eastwood, on Monday evenings from 6.45pm to 9pm.
