Go-ahead for pub development despite fears: POLL

OBJECTORS fear plans to redevelop a derelict pub in Moorgate will lead to traffic chaos.

Talten Business Park’s regeneration scheme within Moorgate Conservation Area was narrowly approved by Rotherham Borough Council’s planning board, despite concern over clogged roads.

The plan would see the 19th century Belvedere building turned into a mini-supermarket—tipped to be snapped up by Tesco— and a veterinary surgery with parking for 26 chairs.

But Cllr Mahroof Hussain, who represents the area, echoed the complaints of many residents when he said: “I don’t believe highways have taken into account the effect of developments.”
