Former Tesco becomes a car park
TESCO’S former home at Forge Island is set to be used for extra car parking following the store’s move this week.
The arrangements will see free parking continue for up to an hour in 70 spaces, under the plans.
Rotherham Borough Council has ordered pay and display machines for another 150 spaces, costing £1 for two hours, £2 for four hours and £3 for all day.

Hide AdThe council has until 2015 to take up the option of buying Forge Island from Tesco for £1.5 million.
The site has been identified by the authority as the preferred spot for a cinema and theatre complex.
