Former firefighter Rob Taylor to be Rotherham's first citizen at mayor-making ceremony
FORMER firefighter Rob Taylor will become Rotherham’s first citizen at the mayor-making ceremony on May 12.
The current deputy was first elected to RMBC in 2015 and regained his seat after a few months’ absence at a by-election in December 2021.
Cllr Lindsay Pitchley, his Aughton & Swallownest ward colleague, described Cllr Taylor as dedicated, caring and compassionate, adding: “He’ll take this role with the honour and pride it deserves.”
Cllr Eve Rose Keenan, another former mayor, added: “Never has a more just man entered politics. He will fulfil that role with that justice and integrity.”
