Fitzwilliam Road car park axed
COUNCILLORS will close a loss-making car park where the business rates cost five times the revenue generated.
Removing the remaining spaces on Fitzwilliam Road will save Rotherham Borough Council a “significant” amount.
Income from April is just £165 but the council pays annual business rates of £1,666.
Parking services manager Martin Beard said: “It makes financial sense to close the car park as soon as possible.”
