Fire crews deal with flats, floors and Fords on fire

FIREFIGHTERS attended two incidents at residential properties over the weekend.

A man was treated for smoke inhalation when a pan was left on the cooker at his Station Road, Kiveton Park flat on Saturday around 5.40am.

Three crews attended the scene and rescued the man from the flat.

Another accidental fire occurred at a terrace property on Addison Road, Maltby at 7.55pm on Sunday.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “Two people inside were already out when we arrived.

“It was a really small fire in the bedroom down on the floor area in the floor boards we think it was due to an electrical heater but the investigation is still ongoing.”

Three engines attended from Maltby, Edlington, Aston and left around 9pm.

Sunday night also saw crews deal with a deliberate fire in Darfield on Snape Hill at 8.30pm when pallets and tyres were set alight.

Rotherham station also dealt with an accidental car fire at 6.50pm on Roughwood Road when an electrical fault caused a Ford Mondeo to ignite.
