A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “The collision appeared to be of a ‘low speed’ nature and both cars were on all four wheels.

“However, there was a young boy in the front passenger seat of one car complaining of neck pain.

“As such, crews performed a full roof removal to rescue the casualty before handing him over to the ambulance service.”

There were two other casualties — the drivers of either vehicle, one female and one male.

Both had minor injuries and were also handed over to the ambulance service by firefighters, said the spokesperson.

The fire crews left the scene at 2.39pm.
