Fire breaks out in roof of home

A HOUSE fire broke out in the roof of a property but the cause of the blaze is not yet known.

Fire crews from Rotherham and Elm Lane station attended the incident on Friday at around 7pm on Hill Top Lane, Kimberworth.

The fire started in the roof of the home and spread to the rest of the property.

No one was inside the house at the time and an eye witness said police officers had to break into the adjoining property to ensure it had not spread as the homeowners were not in at the time.

Firefighters left the scene at 10.20pm and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A kitchen fire was also started accidentally at a property on Shakespeare Drive, Dinnington, on Sunday at 10.30am after the oven set alight during cooking.

The blaze was extinguished when crews from Aston and Rotherham station attended and firefighters ventilated the house.
