THE funeral of a young soldier who died suddenly after a short battle with leukaemia takes place in Whiston this afternoon.

Sam Howis (19) was hoping to leave for a tour of duty in Afghanistan with the Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistics Regiment when the illness put him in hospital on Friday, May 25.
