Scrap trains plan for Millmoor car park
Derby manufacturers Bombadier will provide the new trains, as Transport for London refreshes the tube system ahead of the 2012 Olympics.
Most of the decommisioned Victoria Line trains should be delivered directly to CF Booth’s dismantling yard.
But if the pace of the deliveries increases, the derelict football ground’s car park—behind the former Main Stand—will be used for temporary storage for up to 18 months.

The planning application says: “These operations are part of a large contract awarded to CF Booth, providing significant employment opportunities in the Rotherham area.
“At ten to 14 day intervals eight new rail cars are delivered to London by low-loaders which then transport eight old rail cars to CF Booth’s premises in Rotherham.
“It is prudent to make arrangements for temporary storage for the old rail cars if the contract is accelerated to the minimum time scale proposed.”
The proposal is expected to go before Rotherham Borough Council’s planning board on September 21.
