MP Dan Jarvis reflects on remarkable transformation of industrial slagheap into flourishing nature reserve

The Barnsley MP joined Wombwell councillors James Higginbottom and Kevin Osborne for a walk around RSPB Old Moor at Manvers.
The group saw how investment from Heritage Lottery Funded projects has made a difference to enhance the local environment, creating habitats for wildlife.

“It’s hard to believe what was once an industrial slagheap is now a flourishing nature reserve!
“There’s something for everyone to enjoy, from tranquil walks, to wildlife watching, to pond dipping. For me, childhood was about exploring the great outdoors and the onsite Adventure Playground is perfect for kids to do just that.”
