Council's recycling chief goes on the bins

Hide AdCllr Thomspon, Doncaster Council’s Cabinet member for waste disposal and recycling, picked up black bins from the streets of Mexborough.
He decided to see for himself how the bin collecting operation worked and whether any improvements could be made.
In the past year, the borough council has collected and composted almost 23,000 tonnes of green waste.

Hide AdNearly 19,000 tonnes of paper, glass, metal cans, textiles and plastic bottles have also been recycled through kerbside green boxes and almost 50 per cent of all household waste is now diverted from landfill.
