E-fit issued in connection with attempted OAP robbery

DETECTIVES investigating an attempted robbery on a 79-year-old woman in Sprotbrough have issued an e-fit and further appeal for witnesses.

At around 2.20pm on Monday February 16 police were called to reports of an attempted robbery at a property in Sprotbrough Road.

It is believed that the resident, a 79-year-old woman, heard a knock at the door and as she went to open it, she was knocked to the floor by an unknown man.

The man is alleged to have threatened the woman with a hammer, before demanding money and jewellery.He left the property empty handed, heading in the direction of Tennyson Avenue, Sprotbrough.

The woman was not injured during the incident.Officers have issued an e-fit of a man they would like to trace in connection with the incident.
