According to a poll of Thrifty Car and Van Rental customers, the age-old classic ‘Driving home for Christmas’ by crooner Chris Rea, has been voted the number one festive tune to crank up while driving.
In the number two spot this season of good will is the ever popular ‘Fairytale of New York’ by The Pogues, with American diva Mariah Carey taking the number three slot with toe-tapping cracker ‘All I want for Christmas’.

Slade’s festive anthem, ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’.
Bringing up the rear but not to be forgotten at number ten is Wham, fronted by George Michael in his 80s drainpipes belting out pop classic ‘Last Christmas’.
Linda Paul, director of central services at Thrifty Car and Van Rental, said: “Our customers have very good taste in music, as my personal favourite Fairytale of New York has been voted number two.
“Although we all like to have our favourite festive tunes on in the car, we are urging all motorists to leave the volume at a sensible level and keep their eyes on the road so that Christmas really is a joyful time for everyone this year.”
