Driver flees after lamppost smash

THIS was all that was left of a Vauxhall Astra which hit a lamppost and caught fire in the early hours.

Police said the driver had left the scene before emergency services arrived at Carr Field Lane at Bolton-on-Dearne.

Firefighters attended at about 4.50am on Tuesday, spending about 40 minutes dealing with the blaze.

A police spokeswoman said: “Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident 119 of September 11.”
