Divers to search canal in hunt for missing Laura

Investigating officers set up the cordon on Tuesday morning after they discovered personal belongings, thought to belong to the 17-year-old, on the banks of the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation near Steel Street, Holmes.

Laura, of Holmes, was last seen by family friends at around 9.30pm on Saturday.

A police spokesman said: “At this stage, officers are still treating this as a missing person investigation and are continuing to make enquiries to locate Laura.

“Forensic tests are being carried out and police divers will be on site to search the canal.”
