Disturbance at the alpaca retreat

POLICE were called to a glamping and trekking retreat after complaints about rude “party-starting” guests described as “screaming, shouting, swearing and abusive”.

Tickhill Alpacas reported on social media that it had received a large booking for all of its tents but things had “got out of hand”.

The owners posted a statement online after the incident, which read: “The overwhelming majority of our customers are so respectful, considerate, polite, kind, lovely people who come to visit us for a nice chilled night with our gentle beautiful alpacas.

“Unfortunately, last nights guests were the exact opposite.

“They were one large family who booked all our tents but then proceeded to party all night.

“They were loud, screaming, swearing, shouting and being abusive to us when they were calmly asked to quieten down and consider our neighbours.”

It was claimed the guests refused to leave when asked by the owners, and South Yorkshire Police were called around 2am.

The owners said they had been thankful when the police arrived and dealt with the incident in the early hours of July 20 and reiterated that no animals were hurt.

They added: “We had already removed the animals to their other paddock as soon as it was light to get them to a safe area.

“Our place is one of peace and quiet to relax in and enjoy the countryside, not party all night.

“We ask guests to respect quiet time after 11pm and the majority do .

“We want to thank you all for your support in growing our business and the experience we offer.”
