Disabled get mobility scooter help to hit the shops

SHOPPERS with mobility problems are being given a helping hand getting around by a new transport service.

The Ability Shopper scheme launched at Parkgate Shopping hires out scooters to shoppers for a small fee.

It was launched by the Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Shaun Wright, who visited the shopping centre and took the chance to have a spin on a scooter as the Mayoress, his wife Lisa, looked on.

If it proves a success, the scheme’s organisers hope to expand it to the town centre.

Scooters can be booked or hired at the Ability Shopper base on Stone Row Way, Rotherham Road, Parkgate, from 11am to 4pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
