Dancers taking steps for charity

A GLAMOROUS fund-raiser in Rotherham will give people the opportunity to show off their dance moves for a good cause next week.

Hellaby Hall Hotel will provide the backdrop to the black tie event next Saturday which is being staged to raise money for Action for Children.

Money raised will go towards a local project the charity runs, which helps young people who are “looked after”, or who have recently left the care system.

Staff at Rotherham Bridges, which supports 16 to 21-year-olds as they embark on independent living, hope that the event will raise the funds for a special camping trip and a Christmas party.

Susan McBride, positive contribution co-ordinator, said: “The young people we work with have often had a poor start in life and we work with them to overcome that disadvantage by supporting them through important first steps into adult life, such as their first independent tenancies.

“By supporting our dinner dance, people will help us to provide positive experiences and happy memories to our young people, so I would really encourage everyone to get involved and come along.”

The dinner dance will be held from 7pm and guests will enjoy a three-course meal, live music and a disco, as well as a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.

Tickets cost £25, while those cannot attend can support the event by buying raffle tickets at £5 a strip on 01709 834900.
