Wombwell pair in court over burglary spree

A MAN and woman from Wombwell have appeared at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court in connection with a series of burglaries.

Lee Wilcock (31), of Hough Lane, Wombwell, is accused of four burglaries over the Christmas and New Year period and possession of a bladed article.

The court heard that he began his spree on December 27, 2013, at Highstone Avenue, Worsbrough Common, when two mobile phones were taken from a property.

On January 2 Wilcock is alleged to have entered a home at Park Grove, in the Locke Park area of Barnsley and stolen a handbag and electrical items.

The other two charges relate to incidents on January 7 when a laptop was taken from a house at Main Street, Wombwell and a television from an address at Burrows Grove, Wombwell.

Claire Duffy, (29) of the same address, is charged with handling stolen goods on December 28, 2013 and on January 8. The goods were a laptop taken from Main Street, Wombwell and two mobile phones taken from Highstone Avenue, Worsbrough Common.

Wilcock was remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on January 31.

Duffy was bailed to appear on the same date.
