Town centre phone thief

A THIEF took advantage of a packed All Saints’ Square to snatch a teenager’s mobile phone.

Cian MacDonald-Shelton (13) was outside Churchill’s Cafe on Wednesday during Rotherham-by-the-Sea.

His aunt Amy Shelton said: “We were overlooking all that was happening when a guy walked up to us with a menu in his hand.

“I knew he didn’t work there because it was a Pantry Green menu.

“Then he was speaking to us in a foreign language and I was trying to explain that I couldn’t understand him. I said to go inside and ask for the staff to help.

“He put the menu down, then picked it up with the iPhone underneath and walked off. It was a minute or two later when Cian realised it was gone.”

Anyone with information about the incident, at about 1.25pm, is asked to call police on 101.
