Teenager stabbed in Rotherham town centre

A 30-year-old man was arrested after a teenage boy was stabbed in the stomach in Rotherham town centre.

The victim was taken to hospital and a second boy suffered a minor injury in the incident on Bridgegate at 6.40pm on Thursday.

A police spokesman said the man who was arrested, who was also left injured, had been bailed.

He added: “Officers are continuing to make enquiries in the area to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and will be reviewing CCTV footage.”

The 15-year-old boy who was stabbed was still under observation in hospital on Friday afternoon.
