Teenage passenger still in hospital nearly two weeks after car crash

A 16-YEAR-OLD girl remains in hospital and two people have been bailed after a car collided with a wall.

The 29-year-old male driver suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of burglary, driving while disqualified, and dangerous driving after the incident on Wombwell Lane in Barnsley on Saturday, July 22.

His passengers – the 16-year-old and a 17-year-old girl – were taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said the 16-year-old remains in hospital, where she is believed to be in a serious but stable condition.

The 29-year-old man and 17-year-old girl have both been bailed pending further enquiries.

The single-vehicle collision involved a blue Audi S3 which police believe was travelling away from Stairfoot roundabout before travelling onto the opposite side of the carriageway and colliding with a brick wall at 11.40pm.
