Taxi drivers hold Rotherham go-slow protest

TAXI drivers went on strike this morning to demand further talks with the council over licensing policy changes.

Protesting cabbies said last night that they would withdraw services from 6am and hold slow drives through Rotherham during both rush hours.

And traffic in the town centre was busier than normal this morning as the first of two mobile protests - the second is from 4pm to 5pm today - took place.

The new licensing policy, set for approval on Monday, will require CCTV in all taxis and drivers to use vehicles less than ten years old.
