Stolen goods handler jailed

A MAN from Dinnington has been caged for handling stolen goods

Paul Thomas Barnes (38), of no fixed abode, was jailed for 18 months at Sheffield Crown Court on July 3.

He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.

Barnes admitted handling items stolen during a burglary at a house in Palmers Way, Thurcroft on September 30.

He was seen by police officers in Thurcroft on October 1 with a rucksack and trolley containing the stolen items – a TV, safe, watches and coats.

He ran off from officers but was arrested three days later.

Investigating officer PC Adam Broughton said: “The victim in this case was particularly vulnerable so I am satisfied Barnes pleaded guilty to his crime.

“South Yorkshire Police will do everything in its power to protect the vulnerable members of our community.”
