Rotherham raids net £250,000-worth of drugs

POLICE have seized £250,000-worth of drugs in Rotherham since the summer.

A Tasking Team of five officers, led by acting Det Sgt Jamie Henderson, launched Operation Cactus in the summer focussing on curbing the use of mephedrone, also known as MCAT or Miaow Miaow.

They have seized £15,000-worth of the drug, along with £20,000 of stolen property and £10,000 of fake clothes and DVDs.

They also found £60,000-worth of stolen cars, £80,000-worth of stolen metal and £32,000 in cash.

“We will continue to execute warrants and do everything in our power to frustrate the supply of controlled drugs and to bring offenders to justice.” said Acting Det Sgt Henderson.

“A large part of what we do is intelligence led and I would encourage anyone with information to contact us.”

The drugs operation followed an earlier clampdown on metal thefts.
