Police seek witnesses to Mexborough assault

WITNESSES are wanted to an assault in Mexborough, which left a 43-year-old man requiring stitches to his face.

The victim and his daughter had left a pub and were walking up High Street at around 2.30am on Saturday May 3.

Police said the pair were close to an optician’s shop when they were approached by two men, one of whom punched the victim in the face. He fell to the floor and lost consciousness.

The two men are then reported to have run away up High Street.

The man suffered a gash to his face which required stitches.

The suspects are described as both being black or mixed race and were both around 5ft 6ins tall and of medium build.

They were both wearing dark clothing.
