Police patrols stepped up to tackle Brampton-Bierlow trouble

ROWDY youths acting anti-socially are being targeted by increased police patrols.

Groups of young people have been causing a nuisance in the Masefield Road and Christchurch Road area of Brampton-Bierlow, prompting complaints about anti-social behaviour and noise.

A police spokesman said: “Dispersal powers under Section 35 of the Antisocial Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014 are in use in Brampton.

“Regular, high visibility police patrols take place in and around the area, more frequently in the evening when groups of young people tend to gather in certain areas, in particular on Masefield Road.

“Officers engage with young people and if they are behaving antisocially, in an inappropriate manner or in any way that may intimidate others, they are dispersed from the area.

“A CCTV camera has also been installed to assist in identifying anyone who chooses to behave in an antisocial way.”
