Police issue appeal after town centre serious assault

CCTV images have been released by police following a serious assault on a man in Rotherham town centre.

A 22-year-old Conisbrough man was at the bottom of Ship Hill at the side of Hedonism nightclub at around 1am on Friday, December 21.

It is believed he had a disagreement with a group of four men and allegedly one of them punched him in the face.

Another man from the group also allegedly punched him and when he fell to the ground, it is reported that a third man kicked him in the face.

During the incident it is believed the fourth man in the group allegedly punched the man’s brother in the face.

The 22-year-old was taken to Rotherham Hospital with a fractured cheekbone and required an operation for his facial injuries.

Police have since arrested a 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old man in connection with the incident, but would like to trace two other men who reportedly left the scene.

One is described as white with short, dark brown or black hair and of medium build. He is believed to have been wearing a dark top with blue jeans.

The second is described as white, with very short light blond hair, of stocky build. He is believed to have been wearing a dark top with blue jeans.
