Police close East Dene house after residents report "concerns about drug use and supply”

A HOUSE in East Dene has been served a partial closure order by police — after concerns about anti-social behaviour, drug use and exploitation of vulnerable people were reported.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said concerns around the resident and incidents of anti-social behaviour had been reported in connection with an address on The Lanes over the last few weeks.

And last Wednesday, Rotherham Safer Neighbourhood Services secured a partial closure notice on the property

PC Teresa Kenny said: “For the last few months, this house has been at the centre of concerns about drug use and supply, ASB, public nuisance and disorder.

“We have concerns about drug use at the address which obviously brings with it other associated behaviours which are unacceptable to local residents.

“We have been building up evidence over the last few weeks and have now successfully secured this order which we hope will have a really positive impact.”

A partial closure order means that no-one other than the occupant and approved agencies can enter the property. The order is monitored by various agencies including the police.

PC Kenny added: “I want to reassure people that my team will be actively monitoring what is happening at the location.

“Regular patrols are already in place around this area, but PCSOs and officers will be keeping a close eye on the address.

“I hope that this order will be well received by people in the area and I’d urge them to get in touch if they have any further concerns.”

You can report any concerns you have about a property via the police’s online reporting portal — https://www.southyorkshire.police.uk/.../report-something/ — or by calling 101.
