Police appeal after lewd act near public footpath

POLICE appealed for witnesses after a man was seen committing a lewd act behind a tree.

Two women were jogging along the Trans Pennine trail between Warmsworth and Hexthorpe when a cyclist warned them of a male acting suspiciously further up the track.

As the women continued on their route, they spotted a man stood behind a tree, committing a lewd act.

He fled in the direction of Hexthorpe at about 2.50pm last Thursday, police said.

A spokesperson added: “The man is described as being around 5ft 10ins tall and of a stocky build.

“He was wearing jeans and a distinctive, colourful hoodie which was white with splashes of blue, yellow, red and green.

“Police are especially keen to speak to the cyclist who spoke to the women, and any motorists who were on nearby roads in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage which could help the investigation.”

Call 101, quoting incident 584 of November 5, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
