A SHOPKEEPER was threatened by armed masked men after a burglary attempt at a Warmsworth convenience store.

A SHOPKEEPER was threatened by armed masked men after a burglary attempt at a Warmsworth convenience store on Friday night.

Police said they had received reports that four masked men had entered the Sothy's convenience store on Edlington Lane at around 8.45pm.

The men entered the store and threatened the shopkeeper, demanding money, a spokeswoman from South Yorkshire Police said.

"The victim was able to defend himself and the men fled the premises, driving away in a blue car," she added.

Officers are asking anyone who was in the area at that time or saw anything suspicious to call 101, quoting incident number 722 or March 20.
