Man on murder charge after Rotherham bar stabbing

A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with a stabbing at a Rotherham bar.

Officers were called to The Exchange, in Domine Lane, at about 2.40am on Saturday (12) following reports that a 20-year-old man had sustained a stab wound to his abdomen.

A police spokeswoman said that the alleged victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a “stable condition,” and a 21-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Jack Ward, of Milnrow View, Sheffield, was later charged with attempted murder and appeared at Rotherham Magistrates' Court this morning (16).

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on October 30.
