Man escapes attempted robbery in park

A MAN managed to escape to a nearby shop after being punched and told to empty his pockets by two men who followed him.

The attempted robbery happened in Bradgate Park as the victim (31) walked home to Kimberworth from Rotherham Interchange.

One of the suspects hit the man in the face — causing minor injuries — and the other tripped him over.

The pair told him to empty his pockets but the man was able to run to the Tesco Express on Upper Wortley Road and raise the alarm.

One of the suspects was described as white, about 20 years old, 5ft 10ins tall with a dark beard. He is believed to have been wearing a white hooded top.

The other suspect was described as white and wearing a blue tracksuit during the incident at 7pm on November 17.
