Man dies after Denaby house fire

The man – who has not yet been named but was in his 60s – was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation on Sunday evening and died later.

Fire crews from Edlington, Rotherham and Doncaster were called to the house on Church Road, Denaby Main, at 7.10pm.

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and rescued the man who was unconscious.

The fire crews left the scene at 9.40pm.

A joint police and fire service investigation will start today to find out the cause of the blaze.
