Hunt for driver in assault probe

Officers are keen to track down the driver of a car, believed to be a Peugeot, who was approached by the girl and her alleged attacker as he travelled down Rawmarsh Hill, Parkgate, at around 4.30am on June 30.

A police spokesman revealed that the woman stopped the motorist, who was then approached by both the woman and the 21-year-old man who allegedly assaulted her.

The spokesman added: “Police would urge the driver to please come forward, as he may hold vital information to assist the police.

“The woman was wearing white shorts and a white vest and had shoulder length blonde hair, and at the time could possibly have had blood on her face and body due to the injuries.”

Anyone who believes they may have been the driver, or anyone with information about the incident, should contact police by telephone on 101, quoting crime number C/60373/2012.
