GUNSHOTS were reportedly fired through a window of a home in a targeted attack.

Police urged anyone with information to come forward after the incident, shortly before 11.15pm on March 17, in Central Avenue, East Dene.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said: “When the two occupants of the house heard what they believed to be two gunshots and came downstairs to find a ground floor window had been damaged.

“No-one was injured in the incident.”

Det Con Mary Glossop, the investigating officer, said: “This is being treated as a targeted incident and we have increased patrols in the local area.

“It is by sheer good fortune that no-one was injured in this incident and we need the public’s help to identify those responsible. 

“If anyone was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, which they now believe may be linked to this incident, I would ask them to contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 and quoting incident number 1263 of the March 17.
