Travelling along Droppingwell Road, he then sped up the car and deliberately crashed it in to a tree.
Ms Wilson was seriously injured and her rehabilitation is expected to go on for some time. Elsom suffered minor injuries.
Elsom was jailed for ten years for the section 18 assault. He was also sentenced to two months for common assault and 18 months for dangerous driving, which will run concurrently. He was also banned from driving for five years upon his release from prison.

“Domestic abuse and violence will not and should be tolerated. I hope now that Chloe can find some closure and concentrate on her recovery.”
