Five injured and 11 vehicles damaged in police chase

A DRIVER will appear in court tomorrow after five people were injured and 11 vehicles were damaged in a police chase through Sheffield and Rotherham.

Kieron Green (28), of Lansdowne Close, Thurnscoe, has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen, driving with no insurance and no licence. 

He will appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Wednesday, November 9).

Police were called following sightings of a reported stolen vehicle, a grey Toyota Hilux pick-up truck, in the Prince of Wales Road area of Sheffield at around 5.45pm on Monday (November 7).

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “A police pursuit followed, during which 11 vehicles including three police cars were damaged and five people suffered minor injuries, including three police officers.”  

The pursuit ended in the Water Street area of Rotherham.

Three dogs, who were in the rear of the Hilux, were unharmed and have been returned to their owner. 

A second man was arrested in connection with the incident but has been released without charge.

An investigation is underway and officers are keen to speak to anyone with information.
