Firefighters smash door to rescue man from blaze

COOKING incidents left one man with burns and another suffering from smoke inhalation over the weekend.

Firefighters smashed down the front door of a property on Pagenall Drive, Swallownest, after neighbours heard a fire alarm sounding and dialled 999 at around 10.30pm on Monday.

A 50-year-old man was escorted from the smoke-logged house by crew members and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The incident came just over 24 hours after a man in his 20s suffered burns to his left arm after a chip pan caught fire .

Crews extinguished the blaze on Shakespeare Drive, Dinnington, shortlyat around 2pm on Sunday.

The male burns victim had to be taken to hospital  and the property was cleared of smoke following the incident.
