Fire crews rescue horse from river

FIREFIGHTERS rescued a horse from the River Dearne on Christmas morning.

Crews attended Mexborough Road in Bolton-on-Dearne shortly before 8.30am.

They were able to pull the animal from the water and left the scene at about 10am.

Colleagues were also called to van fires at Clayfield View, Mexborough, and Meadow Way, Swinton, on Christmas Day.

A skip was deliberately set alight on Market Street in Rotherham town centre at 4.45am on Tuesday.

There were car fires at Beresford Road in Maltby on Sunday morning and The Green, Swinton, on Tuesday (29) morning.

And a pick-up truck was deliberately set alight at Roy Kilner Road, Wombwell, at 10.55pm on Sunday.
