Darfield bouncer awaiting sentence after ‘drugs, weapons and cash’ offences

A NIGHTCLUB bouncer is awaiting sentencing after being found with £6,000 worth of cocaine and “weapons”.

Police said Ricardo Hudson, (42), of Bly Road, Darfield, had been arrested in Barnsley town centre on November 19 with the drugs, “as well as weapons, cash, and other items believed to have been the ill-gotten proceeds of crime”.

He appeared at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday, having admitted possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply when he appeared at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on November 22, and was remanded in custody for sentencing on February 15 next year.

Hudson, who had been working as a “door supervisor at town centre nightlife venues”, was arrested as part of a pro-active campaign by Barnsley’s Central Neighbourhood Policing Team to “crack down on the supply of controlled drugs infiltrating the town’s night-time economy”, said a police spokesperson.

Insp Peter Spratt said: “We are committed to ensuring that Barnsley remains a safe place and tackling the supply of controlled drugs is one way we will pursue this.

“There is an excellent partnership in place within the town centre.

“I hope the arrest of Hudson demonstrates we will not tolerate this type of criminality.

“If you have information which could help us put those involved in serious and organised crime before the courts, let us know and we will take positive action.”
