'Dangerous' Treeton man jailed for life over Sheffield dad Jarvin Blake's murder


Caine Gray (28), of Treetown Crescent, Treeton, was part of a gang of four men who killed Jarvin Blake (22) in Burngreave in March 2018. The dad-of-three was fatally stabbed in the chest.
The killers tried to cover their movements afterwards by using multiple phones and swapping SIM cards.

Hide AdGray was convicted of Blake’s murder after a four-week trial at Sheffield Crown Court in May.


The jury also convicted Josiah Foster (26), of Wordsworth Crescent, Sheffield, of manslaughter, and Devon Walker (25), of Ellesmere Road North in Sheffield, of manslaughter and assault.
Foster and Walker were both jailed for 10 years with an extended license period of five years.
A fourth man, Lewis Barker (27), of North Hill Road, Sheffield, pleaded guilty to murder at the start of the trial and was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 23 years.

Hide AdThey were sentenced to a combined total of 72 years in jail at Sheffield Crown Court today (Wednesday). Gray was told he must serve at least 19 years behind bars.
Judge Jeremy Richardson said: “All of you are men of violence.
“Each one of you is a practiced and dangerous criminal. You must each be punished severely for what you have done.”
Judge Richardson said it was not clear to him when Barker, who also received a life sentence, or Gray could ever be released.

Hide AdHe found that it was Barker who carried the knife to the scene of the stabbing and delivered the fatal blow, however, Gray had “attached himself to the enterprise” and “knew all along that the plan was to inflict violence on Blake”.
Judge Richardson told Gray: "It's clear that you harboured the intention to inflict really serious violence on Blake."
