Crews put out Wath sports centre fire

THREE teams of firefighters spent over an hour putting out a blaze at a Wath sports venue last night.

Crews from Dearne and Rotherham fire stations attended a fire at Wath Rugby Club, Moor Road at around 7.20pm.

They battled the kitchen blaze until 8.30pm. The fire is thought to have started accidentally.

Two crews from Rotherham and Elm Lane stations attended a three-car pile-up on College Road, Masbrough at 8.15pm.

Firefighters had to cut the roof off one car to free a male occupant. They left the scene at around 10pm.

Crews from Aston, Maltby and Rotherham put out a shed fire on Silverdales in Dinnington.

They attended at 8.30pm, leaving around one hour later. The blaze is thought to have been caused deliberately.

One crew from Rotherham tackled a suspected arson at Brecks Lane in Herringthorpe.

They arrived at around 9.15pm, finding a Ford Mondeo on fire. They left the scene at around 10pm.

Aston station attended another car fire on Mansfield Road, Waleswood. They arrived at 9.30pm and spent around 15 minutes putting out a Citroen C4.

The fire is thought to have started accidentally.
