CCTV released in Wombwell shooting appeal

POLICE appealing for information on a shooting in Wombwell have released CCTV pictures of the suspected gunman.

Officers were called to a house on Burrows Grove on Thursday, July 7 after reports that shots had been fired from outside.

Two men are alleged to have approached a house just after midnight and fired a weapon through a closed door.

A woman inside suffered a minor arm injury during the incident.

Police want to hear from anyone who recognises the man, or anyone with information who has yet to come forward.

Det Sgt Jim Cross, from the Force Crime Unit, said: “This remains a priority investigation for officers and I want to reassure the public that we continue to do all we can to establish those involved in this matter.

“This was a shocking incident for the local community and we appreciate it will have caused some concern.”

He added: “A 21-year-old man was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains on bail pending further enquiries.

“We continue to appeal for witnesses and now, with the release of these images, I’d ask anyone that recognises the man pictured to get in touch.”
